Monday, April 25th - Review upcoming service opportunities (Perry Rec., food drive, and donor appreciation night). Last chance to sign up for Your Life, Your Choice. Watch Erin Brockovich and complete viewing guide to make connections between the film and our study of environmental justice. Note...some students will be asked to share SMART goal impact for a video that will be shared with PSL donors.

Week Thirty Four
March 21-25: Participate in Equality Film Festival. Students will have the opportunity to explore the struggle for civil rights, women's rights, disability rights, or LGBTQ rights by viewing films of their choice. Film is often used to raise awareness about injustice, build empathy, and foster understanding of diverse perspectives. It can also perpetuate stereotypes or political propaganda. Students will complete a viewing guide in which they identify the key message of the film they watch while considering the evolving fight for equal rights in America through the lens of the 14th amendment.

Wednesday, March 16: Introduce new unit with the story of the Freedom Riders and their reflections on training and the power of song. Take notes on “Social Movements and Equal Protection.” Read “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Homework: Video consent and release form is due Friday.
Friday, March 18: View “The Hill We Climb” by Amanda Gorman. Then review the transcript of the poem, discuss its meaning, and draw connections to our study of social movements and the 14th amendment. Review summative assignment and sign up for activities to advance social justice in InnerView.

Week Thirty Two
Monday, March 7th: Return last week's assignments, preview speaker, and review causes and solutions for human trafficking. Draft a letter to an elected official asking them to take action on pending legislation seeking to prevent trafficking, protect victims, or prosecute traffickers. Send your draft to the appropriate elected official and have Mr. Soeder or Mrs. Trentanelli's substitute teacher witness your submission.
Wednesday, March 9th: Detective John Morgan will provide awareness training on the topic of human trafficking. Detective Morgan has been employed with the Cuyahoga County Sherriff's Department since 1999 and is currently assigned to the Ohio Attorney General's Northeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force.
Friday, March 11th: Professional development day for teachers. No school. If possible, students should use this day to make up any missing service hours before the end of the 3rd quarter. Time sheets are due Sunday at midnight.

- Read “Justice is Beyond Charity: A Parable.” Define justice and charity in your notes.
- Review committee presentation expectations. Each student should give a 5-10 minute presentation in which they share their nomination form as well as a brief video about their organization or the issue that it addresses. When you are not presenting, you should record the name of each student in your group and the nonprofit they nominated in your notebook.
- Meet in committees.
- Reconvene and complete ballots individually.
Friday, January 21st:

Monday, January 10th - Continue working on SMART goals by completing the summative assignment below by the end of your PSL Block:
- Make a copy of this slide presentation.
- Review the exemplar found on slide 2.
- Create your own slide using the template on slide 3.
- Copy your S.M.A.R.T. goal from sheet and insert on slide 3 after making suggested revisions.
- Share completed slide with Mr. Soeder and Mrs. Trentanelli.
- Email your supervisor with your SMART goal (see template), and CC Mr. Soeder and Mrs. Trentanelli on the message.
Friday, January 14th - Review introduction to philanthropy notes. Take notes on nonprofit organizations and Magnified Giving implementation timeline. Review nomination process and complete nonprofit nomination form in class today. Helpful resources include Northeast Ohio nonprofit list, MG registered NPO list, the nonprofit's web page and social media accounts, as well as www.news-herald.com or www.cleveland.com. You will earn 20 points (all or nothing) for using the remainder of class time to complete nomination form, email video link to Trent/Soeder, and prepare presentation for Wednesday.
Homework: Submit InnerView time sheet by midnight on Sunday with progress report on SMART goal. Prepare a 5-10 minute presentation on the agency you nominated. These will be shared in small groups on Wednesday

Week Twenty One
PSL will follow the following schedule this week:
- ALL students should report to class during their scheduled PSL block on Friday.
- ALL students are released from class on Thursday in order to fulfill their volunteer requirement.
- Students who are unable to fulfill at least one (1) hour of service and do not have banked hours must report to the PSL classroom on Thursday.
Thursday, January 6th - Students who volunteer at least one (1) hour this week are released from class. Students who are unable to volunteer and do not have banked hours to use should report to the PSL classroom during their assigned class block.
